Sylius pricing 2026: Community, Plus and real costs
Sylius pricing in 2026 starts at zero for the Community Edition (free, MIT licence), and Sylius states that the Plus edition starts from 800 euros a year, depending on sales volume and modules. Neither figure is the price of a shop: implementation, hosting and maintenance make up most of the bill. One published 2026 scenario for a B2B manufacturer reaches around 120,000 euros over three years, with no licence fee.
These are market figures from the sources linked below, read on 1 November 2026, and none of them are my rates. I am an independent Sylius developer, so I have an interest in this subject, and I publish no prices: a quote is how you get mine.
Official Sylius pricing: Community and Plus edition
| Item | Community Edition | Sylius Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Licence | MIT, free | Commercial, from 800 euros a year |
| What sets the price | Not applicable | Online sales volume, modules, and other factors |
| Support | Community, no guaranteed response | SLA, customer success manager, one day response stated |
| Advanced features | Build them or use plugins | B2B Suite, marketplace, multi-store, RBAC and others |
The Sylius Plus page gives these terms, and it says the full package is priced on online sales volume, while the modular option adds the choice of modules. The company's modular licence article, from March 2024, adds more factors: geographic scale, B2C or B2B model, number of modules, whether you migrate from another platform or upgrade from Standard, and implementation strategy. It mentions monthly, yearly or lifetime payment.
Treat "from 800 euros" as an entry point. A B2B project with several modules will not necessarily pay this amount, and the B2B Suite listing publishes no price at all, only a quote form. An older third party article from February 2023 cites 14,900 to 72,900 euros a year for Plus. It is not official and may be out of date, but it reminds you that a large gap can exist between the entry price and a full quote. Ask early. I compare the two editions further in Sylius versus Sylius Plus.
Implementation cost: what a project can really reach
Sylius does not publish partner rates, and I found no rate card from French agencies. The clearest public example I found is an article by Kolonell from October 2026, which describes its figures as an order of magnitude from a specialised European agency, and not as its own quote. The scenario covers 8,000 products, an ERP integration and 400 customer accounts, over three years.
| Cost line (Kolonell scenario) | Estimate over three years |
|---|---|
| Initial build and ERP integration | 65,000 euros |
| Open source licence | 0 euros |
| Paid apps or plugins | 0 to 6,000 euros |
| Hosting, about 300 euros a month | 10,800 euros |
| Maintenance and enhancements, about 1,200 euros a month | 43,200 euros |
| Total | 119,000 to 125,000 euros |
The total leaves out any Sylius Plus licence, as the article itself notes. It is one scenario, for one type of company, and your project could land far below or above it. Its useful lesson is the structure: maintenance over three years is a large share, and the licence is not what decides the budget.
For day rates in France, one 2026 grid places PHP and Symfony freelancers between 450 and 550 euros at intermediate level and between 580 and 700 euros at senior level, as Paris region medians. Another guide gives 450 to 600 euros for a confirmed PHP developer. These guides are not official statistics and they are not Sylius specific.
What makes a Sylius implementation cost vary
Integrations come first: an ERP or PIM connection often weighs more than the storefront. Then come business rules on pricing and promotions, data migration from your current platform, the design work, and the number of channels, countries and languages. A shop running an old version also pays for its catch up: support for Sylius 1.14 ends on 31 December 2026, and Sylius 2.3 requires PHP 8.3, so an estimate that ignores the version is incomplete. Remember ongoing costs as well, such as security updates like the October 2026 releases, and a server able to keep workers running. I compare hosting options in this article in French.
When Sylius is not worth the money
If you have a small catalogue and standard processes, and nobody to maintain a Symfony application, a hosted platform or a simpler open source shop will likely cost you less. Sylius pays off when your business rules are specific enough that fighting a closed platform costs more than developing on an open one. If a quote cannot explain why your project needs Sylius, ask that question directly.
How to get a price you can compare
Write down your catalogue size, order volume, connected systems, data to migrate, countries and deadline. Ask each provider to separate build, licences, hosting and yearly maintenance, and to name what is excluded. Ask for a three year total, because comparing only build prices rewards whoever underestimates maintenance. For Plus, ask Sylius for a written quote with renewal conditions.
To get my price, send those elements through the contact page; I reply within 24 business hours, and you will speak directly with the person who writes the code. My e-commerce page and my Sylius developer page explain what I take on, including takeovers such as Coucouroucoucou, a Belgian shop with about 15,000 orders retained.
